It’s Winter time, and that means you need some drinks that do a little bit of something extra to stave off that frosty chill. Yes, you could just pour some bourbon into your coffee or tea, but why not make it something extra special, with a twist that will leave your taste buds singing. Here are a few recipes to keep you and your friends warm, cozy, and rosy cheeked on a cold Winter night:

Bulleit Rye Whiskey Hot Toddy


Start by filling up your glass or mug with boiling water and let it stand to warm your cup. Cut a lemon twist and stick the cloves into it. Empty out the warm water and add fresh boiling water into your cup. Add 1 spoonful of fine brown sugar and stir it until it dissolves. Add the lemon and clove to your hot water, along with the ¼ oz of lemon juice, and then stir. Last, but not least, add 1.3 ounces of Bulleit Rye, and then stir one last time. You will find a delicious, warming, delightful tingle that fills your whole body, and gives the middle finger to Old Man Winter’s icy grasp.

  • 1 1/3 oz Bulleit Rye
  • 4-5 Cloves
  • 1 Lemon Twist
  • ¼ oz lemon juice
  • 1 tsp fine brown sugar
  • Hot Water

Add fennel seeds, black pepper, and cardamom to a saucepan over medium heat. Toast for around 30 seconds to release the aroma. Add sugar and water to the saucepan. Increase the heat and bring it to a boil, then lower the heat and let simmer for 5 minutes. Divide the Botanist Islay Dry Gin and the hot water into two cups, add a tablespoon of spiced sugar syrup and a ¼ oz of lemon juice to each cup and then garnish with a twist of lemon.
